So here's what's happening at Global Village Backpackers the final days of 2008...
Celebrating 11 years of Award-Winning Service!
The Historic building at 460 King St W existed for over 100 years under several different incarnations before becoming the home of Global Village Backpackers in 1997. As Toronto's Original Backpackers Hostel, GVB set the standard for hostels in Canada. Over the past 10 years, we have been honoured with many awards, including Toronto's Best Hostel (Toronto.com AND Eye Weekly) and Best Hostel in North America (Hostelworld.com). To keep up with our guests' expectations, we are currently undertaking large-scale renovations, including the addition of a new full service restaurant to compliment our existing Backpackers' Bar. Restaurant opens late May, 2007 - just in time for patio season!

For those who've missed some of our legendary parties (Bomb The Village, Canada Day, New Years, WYSTC Welcome Party, Halloween, St Paddy's Day...), don't worry; we will be throwing the biggest bash in our 10 year history! We want to welcome back all former staff and guests for a weekend to remember. The date is yet TBA. So if you want to be added to the party invite list, send us an email with the subject: "Party list" to info@globalbackpackers.com.
GVB Rocks Canadian Music Week!
Every Friday and Saturday, Global Village Backpackers presents Departure Lounge. Opening the doors of our in-house pub to the Toronto public, we're bringing in some of Toronto's top DJs and some incredible up-and-coming Indie Bands. Our reputation as a music haven has grown so much, that this year, we are proud to announce GVB is an official venue for the 2007 Canadian Music Week Festival. We will be showcasing 3 different bands from Canada and around the world each night on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 8-10, 2007. Also, Departure Lounge DJs Richard Taylor and Jeff Button will be filling in between sets and closing the shows on the dance floor. For all band & DJ listings coming up - check out the DL Schedule.
